In the GBU (Groupes Bibliques Universitaires), we would like to give each individual, especially high school and university students, the opportunity to form their own convictions about the Bible.
We organize discussion groups where people can discover and exchange freely on Bible texts. The discussion method we follow allows for a safe space to study the message of the Christian scriptures and to create dialogue with others in our high schools, universities, and work places.
The GBU was established in 1943 as a student-led association reaching out to other students. Today, there are around a hundred GBU groups in France with about a thousand students participating each year. The association stands in line with the historic Protestant evangelical faith.
Founded in: 1943
Number of groups: 100
Annual number of students participating in weekly Bible discussion groups: 1000
The University and High school Christian Union in France organises events (Bible discussions, debate conferences, Forum Veritas…). This student association (complying with the 1901 law) has existed on campuses since 1943, and its head office is located at 21 rue Serpente, 75006 Paris. The association is also the owner of a mountain refuge in the French Alps.
The GBU Chaplaincy is a religious association which provides chaplaincy workers and their service to students who are in need. Its headquarters are located in Strasbourg.
The GBU is a student association. All of its students’ activities take place until the responsibility of the Student Executive Committee.
Relay is a training program which allows students to be trained and mentored over one or two years.
